WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
If your boat is ever found without you, there's one simple thing we can all do to save searchers time, money, and risk: keep your contact number inside the boat.
That's what these stickers are — a vinyl sticker you put inside your kayak with your name and number, as well as a secondary number. If your boat ever turns up without you, whoever finds it — a stranger, the Coast Guard, search and rescue — has a fast, obvious way to find out: are you actually missing, or did your boat just get away from you? That one phone call can save a rescue team hours of searching — keeping people out of the water looking for someone who's sitting on their couch at home.
WHY I'M DOING THIS
I run into a lot of paddlers — through the channel, through orders, just out on the water. I noticed how many boats don't have this. It's such a small thing to fix, and it's one simple way I can give back to a community that's given me a lot.
