Bois BUBERT & JORDANS DELIGHT

You’re from “away” if you don’t call this place “Boisbert” (BWAH-bear). Nearby Petit Manan has a similar, if not slightly naughtier, local moniker. I’ll let your imagination run with it.

The nearby towering cliffs of Jordan’s Delight, complete with a sea arch, add to the reasons to explore this place! I enjoy paddling in this area for the sheer variety. On this day, we ventured to the South side of “Boisbert” and found a few rocky ledges to play around Egg Rock.

The options from this point are to carefully plan a trip to the Petit Manan Lighthouse—which should be done with some consideration as the Petit Manan Bar can be a formidable area, and getting off at the lighthouse isn’t an option during birding nesting season, or to continue around Boisbert. We chose to continue East along Boisbert and cut a line to Jordan’s Delight—one of my favorite places to bring new paddlers in this area. The island’s cliffs rise from the sea, and the sea arch is the cherry on top.

On the way back, we poked around the Douglas Islands and said “hi” to their rock-bound shores before making our way back into Pigeon Hill Bay. I didn’t get many photos as we spent most of the time playing in the rocks.
